The Origins of the Transgender Bill of Rights
I think that they're going to fail at this, just like they did with marriage equality, because this is not one of the top overriding concerns of people across the country. I have been really focused on these issues from a personal and a collective space. It occurred to me that when we talk about LGBTQ plus rights, we often don't necessarily focus on the very specific needs and barriers and discriminations against trans people. And so it felt like as I was watching these bills roll out in legislatures,. I could see the pathway that the Republicans were going down to try to focus on this particular community.
