Don't Follow the Scripted Rules or Advice

Follow your passion. Maybe don't follow the prescribed rules or advice. I really have followed that advice. For instance, as we build companies, our investors tell me, bryan, don't pay too much for companies. Get good value. Well, what? We can only make it work on companies we can really grow. Those companies are expensive. So we have consistently bought expensive companies we could grow. And the last 20 years, we've done incredibly well in spite of the advice. Do what's right for you, yourself and your firm.
