I don't think it just happens that she was at the dig, she picked up the same bug that everybody else had. But i wanted to check my knowledge on something and see if this theory holds up with your understanding of the novel as well. Thatis as well as the idea that the flue virus that she caught happened to be from the past anyway so wright the contempts would have already been immune to it. It it would have gone through them, it would have been endemic.
