The Inferno and the Ascension

The bottom of the inferno is the entryway to what becomes the ascension, which is this kind of topsy-turvy or flipping things upside down in a way. The living world was horrified by what was happening and so fled even as Lucifer fell. So I think speaks not just about Adams return to the divine, which Dante actually sees, but also ultimately Lucifer's too for all the darkness that accrues around him.
