The Mystery of the Belangolo State Forest

Despite an alarming number of victims and plentiful evidence, police were still struggling to figure out exactly what happened in the Belangolo State Forest. Without a suspect in custody, investigators believed there was no way to know for certain what happened to the seven murdered backpackers. On November 9th, a woman named Joanne Berry called to share a story from almost four years earlier. In January of 1990, she and her sister were driving towards Canberra along the Hume Highway when a young man ran into the middle of the road and planted himself in front of her van.
