Introduction
The night of May 19, 1983 was a quiet one for the doctors and nurses at the Mackenzie-Wolomette emergency room in Springfield, Oregon. But all that changed when a car horn lasted outside, summoning the nurses in the ER. A woman told them that someone had shot her children and then she begged the nurses to help them. As doctors and nurses worked furiously to save the children, the mother looked on blankly.
