Is It a Politic Argument That Jefferson Can't Exercise Political Judgment?
i think it's because for walker, morality, or moral virtue, and political virtue, they are supposed to be coincident. And so the there is a moralization of politics. That's when the theological leg of the arscon start doing the work. Even if you could say, given his class position, he was exercising good political judgment, we can still avail ourselves of a normative critique of jefferson. I just kind of thought, ok, but i don't know, i don't buy it, like, class, class society, you know, me cold water.
