The Prophecy of Zachariah
In nahemia chapter 12, verse 16, we discover that zachariah was one of the chief priests representing the house of ido. In five 86 b c, the city of jerusalem had fallen to the babylonians under nebuchadnezzar. After an initial start made to the rebuilding of the temple, under the governorship of shesh baze, the jews had faced opposition from their neighbours and had abandoned the work. Now, over a decade and a half later, and chiefly through the word of hagai, who had encouraged them to take up their building again, the temple was being constructed.
