Taylor Swift's Defence Gets a Little Nuanced for the Non Musical
The judge who dismissed the lawsuit in 20 18 is now allowing the lawsuit to go forward. Swift's defence was that there simply is not a substantial similarity between the two songs with respect to the copyrighted elements. The mere fact that they both mention players going to play and hater's going to hate, doesn't mean that she copied in an inappropriate manner that constituted infringement. Judge really felt he had to let this pass on to the jury and see what they thought about whether or not there was a substantial similarity.
