There's a point in this book where you really just like delve into books and language. One of the ways they cross over is by what are called book steps and story ladders. I discovered after I'd written it actually that Arthur Machen, the great sort of English,. sort of Gothic fiction writer of the early 20th century, when he lived in a garret in London, he didn't have enough bookshelves.
