What Happened Right After the Third Theme Was Transformed?
De vorge was deeply inspired by the longfellow poem, which he read in a check translation. Burley says that largo movement he wrote after he had read the famine scene in longfellow's hiawatha. It had a great effect on him, and he wanted to interpret it musically. The piece features one of the most famous themes in all f classical music.
