The Effect of the Civil War on Spain
As time passed, locked minds began timidly to open again in Spain. After World War II, a significant number of former republicans and their children started an underground guerrilla movement. They were brave group of people who carried out a number of daring attacks on Franco's authorities for a long period of time. It wasn't until the early 60s that they succeeded in breaking the last of the resistance cells. The effect was understandably huge - nearly four decades of fascist rule right in the heart of Western Europe.
