What I've Learned About White Allies
White allyship is a beautiful thing. It's a yearning to be present for suffering and notice the ways that some bodies are privileged in a power structure to the detriment of other bodies. But it ironically creates a saviour narrative for white people or for whiteness as a Yoruba person. So I even hesitate to label people white or black. And I'm not colorblind either. There isn't any kind of self-sufficient progress narrative we can latch onto holding a basket to a butterfly catcher, zooming into another universe.
