Can China Covertly Influence the 2019 Election?
Last November, Global News had a story by Sam Cooper, around online with the headline Canadian Intelligence warned PM Trudeau that China covertly funded 2019 election candidates. On Friday, February 17th, the Globe and Mail got a similar scoop. And this became a much bigger deal in a story that took up their entire front page without a photo. Beijing had two goals to seek return of minority liberal government and defeat conservatives perceived to be hawkish. It's so plausible. This was like a whole season long plot arc on on Veep. We are still a nation of laws.
