Leslie Beck is a registered dietitian based in Toronto. She says artificial sweeteners are allowed to be added to thousands of foods. The World Health Organization has released draft guidelines on the use of non-sugar sweeteners. These include stevia and monk fruit, not just artificial sweeteners like sucralose or aspartame.
