The Role of Religion in the Ability to Plan
I suspect that we often take a religion as something that has organically grown and then started to dominate the world. I think it was a project that Catholicism had when they saw the Failing Woman Empire and decided to turn it into a card. And cards have drawbacks because they limit the rationality of the individual, but they also bind individuals into a structure of meaning and coordinate their actions. There's a certain brutality that happens when you violate the rational autonomy of individuals. People are strongly incentivized to believe in whatever the cult is telling them, even if it's factually untrue. But I think that religion is ultimately a tool in this traditional form that is not good for a knowledge society. It
