The Importance of Awareness in Cognitive Therapy

When it's done well, traditional CBT can have a kind of de-centering element to it. Do you think might be due to the awareness part of cognitive therapy? I don't know that there is one magic bullet within CBT or within MBCT or one mechanism of change. But if somebody is having something over crisis of meaning and a crisis of what it, some work around values might be what's really needed at that point in their life.
