Cumulonimbus Storm Clouds

Cumulonimbus storm clouds form when the atmosphere is unstable. Each droplet releases a tiny bit of heat latent heat that gives it buoyancy. It's warmer than the surrounding air at that level and therefore it rises some more. This builds into eventually the dominant rising weather pattern in local area.
