Economic variables do not seem to correlate very well with drug over dostes within the us. What does correlate is how many pain killers were flowing to these places, at least early on during the crisis. But in general, yes, it doesn't really seem to be that. It's like the economy driving all this. The deat of despair narrative is alcohol, drugs and suicide. And all these things are bad, but like, alcohol deaths are not higher in the us than they are in certain parts of europe. Drug over dose deats are higher. But again, they might not be driven by the economy so much as just like poor regulation. Leading to a flood of pain
