How to Write a Novel That Sells

Howard Kurtz: Ideas come from all sorts of places. When I know I've got a novel though when two or three of those ideas start to stick together and start to have an interesting chemistry. A great example is Mistborn in which I had one idea for a series of books where the Dark Lord had defeated the hero of prophecy and taken over the world. And so they're going to rob him, silly and bribe his armies away from him. He says you need more than one good idea and you need good ideas that have good chemistry. It's like a romance.
