Bojariard: I would say to kind of use the car metaphor and drive this home a bit further, you can look at this in the context of something like the hyper real. The idea that we become ever more solipsistic in the manner of an astronaut is, to me, completely frightening. There's a sort of lingering injunction to go out and touch grass, which really is to get in touch with the real because the plane of the symbolic is so compelling.
