Is China Trying to Increase Birth Rates?
Fertility is a U-curve. You cannot fix the fertility problem by making people's quality of life better or by giving them bonuses at the governmental level. Offering economic incentives doesn't really do much. Hungary this last year spent something like 4.5% of their tax base on trying to increase birth rates and they increased them by 1.6%. It appears that there's just not much you can do at the economic level to leave this problem.
