And Faulkner plays with that with his descriptions of him where he like he plays with certain things that are tropes of portrayals of African American men. Ultimately, it doesn't matter in the spiritual and larger human sense, but for this character psychology, just the notion,. just the thought that this is part of him spins him out of control and spins other people around him out ofcontrol.
