ICANN is the internet corporation for assign names and numbers. There are two different types of registration things: registrars, which you're almost definitely familiar with; and Donuts Inc., who's probably not heard of. ICANN has to pay a little fee when they register domains, which helps keep ICANN afloat.
In this episode, David sits down to explain how wanting the Pizza.Pizza domain led him down a rabbit hole to discovering some interesting facts about how the internet works. Who decides what domains are available? How much does it cost to start one? And is it true that there are seven people with special keys that control the internet? David gets to the bottom of it all! We hope you enjoy.
