There was already in athens a an established tradition of literature and writing. Do you think it's possible that, having travelled around all thesedifferent places, he thought, right, the place to go next is athens? We don't we don't know. It may just because it hasn't survived. But certainly, the impression we have of athens's great rival, the militarist corporate society of sparta in the southern peloponnese. The spartans er wrote, wrote poems and law codes in earlier centuries. They would again later. And probably herodotus helped to build that reputation, too, athens as a great centre of greek learning.
