The Importance of Security in the Internet

I blame Bill Gates a lot in the book. The story that I tell Ellen has often been told is that Microsoft missed, at least initially, the internet revolution when Michael Andreessen was building Mosaic and Silicon Valley becomes internet crazy. And so Bill Gates sends down an edict, which is we are going to Webify Everything. We are going to connect everything to the Web. So they're scared because they went too far. They really changed how they think about software development. This is sometimes called secure software development. It's a change in corporate values.
