The Relationship Between Burgess and McLean
Burgess came out to stay with Philby when he was the station chief in Turkey. Burgess had affairs with so many people, I suppose he didn't mind. He just had this extraordinary magnetism and sexual law for some people. They fled at the end of May 1951 after a tip-off rather than from chance that McLean was due to be interviewed. And they were lucky because the British authorities really did nothing for a while. By the time they sent out search parties, they were probably behind the encartement.
