The Israeli parliament voted to repeal part of a 2005 law, which banned Israeli settlement construction in parts of the northern West Bank. The religious sector objects to what the courts are doing; Netanyahu is on trial and wants laws passed that would make it harder for him to be put on trial or keep prime minister on trial. Part of judicial reform package has to do with who controls the appointment of judges: In Israel, it's not a political process.

Far-right judicial reforms have inspired what might be the largest protests in the history of Israel. If adopted, the reforms could spell the end of democracy in the world’s only majority-Jewish country.
