The Role of Blood Sugar in Cognition
A study of judges and their acquittal behaviors. At the start of the day, you have basically 80% chance to be acquitted. As you approach lunchtime, it drops to 0%. And then there's a bump back up to 80% after lunch. The researchers interpreted this is that it has to do with blood sugar levels. Like when you have a lot of blood sugar available, you're ready to consider things like more deeply. When you're hungry, there's just no more glucose to do the activity so you don't.
