Virtue signally, is a psychological mechanism. It comes out of guilt, or tries to square an impossible circle. People who do not feel comfortable with average people look down on them. So they want to continue their privilege atlet life style. They build an enormous facade of progressivism and damage millions of people so that they feel good about themselves.
