Just seven years after Three Mile Island, what nearly happened on the Susquehanna River did happen. It's near the city of Kiev, population 2.5 million and about a thousand miles from Scandinavia. Chernobyl was kind of a nail in the coffin for that era of the nuclear industry. In terms of impact, there's no comparison.
