Pertinax and the Pretorians

Pertinax promised a huge as to the pretorians in exchange for their support. He came through with half the amount, declined to pay the rest arguing that what he had already given them was more than most soldiers make in a lifetime. Pertinax considered the matter closed and shifted his focus to seeing what could be done to get the empire back on track after so many years of mismanagement.
