I Love the Music, but It's a Form of Devotion, Not an Entertainment
Bach's choral music is so pure in tone and tune that I feel quite literally washed inside and out from listening to it. Bach, for instance, every piece of music that he wrote, he signed for the glory of God. And this is what inspired him to write this music. Most people hear this extraordinary music that developed in the Christian tradition around that period of time. But now it's a form of entertainment, not a form of devotion. We have the same thing with Tibetans, you know, these touring companies of the multi-tonal singing,. The Gita Choir, and then the mandala ceremonies and so on.
