Is That Really Patriotic Socialism?
During World War II they were very so I believe CPUSA initially was against the war but they quickly realized that it wasn't going to be good for them if they were against something in an era where the country you know was jing up war trying to get into a conflict. So they pivoted they adopted Abraham Lincoln as a symbol of their like organization and it was William Z Foster I think who was the leader of the group along with Earl Browder. And they just tried to be as patriotic as they could be but even by the end of World War II the FBI was already looking for ways to undercut them. They still had links to the Soviet Union who were not on our friends list
