The Talmud tells us that the schools of Shammai and Hillel had a two and a half year long debate. After vigorous extended debate, the resolution was as follows: It is indeed preferable for man to have not been created than to be created. But now that you're created, you should examine your deeds. This Talmud is not disgusting. Rather, it's disgusting. Man around too. You lived, you died. There's two options now. You could come back to life or you could stay dead. That was the debate."
