A crossover is where you take, you cut the end off two socks and swap them over. You go through the average once every 100,000 base pairs of DNA. The longer your chromosome, the more likely you are to get a crossover. But because it can have more than once, you might cut the toe off and then swap that,. but then cut it again near the heel and then swap again.
