The Origins of Desmond Tutu's Resistance
When Desmond Tutu was born in 1931, it was an anthem of the anti-apartheid African National Congress. The Dutch colonial Afrikaner Nationalist Party came to power in South Africa in 1948. Comprehensive separation and brutalization of 80 percent majority population of non-whites became law of the land.
