The Resonance of Jupiter and Saturn in the Solar System

Laplace spotted an inequality between the orbits of Saturn and Jupiter. If that were to continue for long enough, then Saturn would be ejected into space. He identified a certain sort of planetary resonance which can cause things to stabilise. And it turns out that over a 900 year period these planets would periodically repeat this behaviour - speeding up before slowing down.
