Alex grew up in a middle-class household with clear priorities. The summer after Alex graduates from high school, they find a job at a Wendy's. Despite the fact that I had a job and was bringing in paychecks, I had to ask my dad for gas money back. And he was not thrilled with the fact that he was getting asked for gas money by someone who had a job.
