The Effects of Closure on Fontan Hemodynamics

Dr. Goebrile: One of the best things that I've learned over my adult congenital years was how to think about fontan hemodynamics. So we used Idricardiac echocardiography to guide us across the fenestration, then got a balloon wedge catheter and use the balloon on the end of the wedge catheter to temporarily occlude the fenstration. And then we re-measured everything. Her fontan pressure did increase a little bit. It went up to 15 millimeters of mercury. Her wedge pressure also increased by 1.2 to 12.
