Trans Identity

Slavoy: Trans identity is against essentialism, and that's where the push toward biology being the sanction for queer sexuality comes from. I think slavoy makes this point that it does, it forces you to constantly think about your unconscious choice as well? Like your unconscious choice of sexual identity. The way in which our will itself is basically a slave of whatever kinds of forces, like psychic forces or social forces. And so I do think this is the ground on which psychoanalysis stakes its claim, that on the level of the unconscious, that's when we're free.
