The Great Persecution in North Africa

Some Christians in North Africa unbudgingly held onto their sacred writings and Christian objects. Others turned over their Bibles and other sacred goods, opting for survival rather than martyrdom. Those who had openly surrendered their sacred goods to Roman authorities became known as Tridioris or Serenderers. By 311, the great persecution had wound down, but factionalism in North Africa had heated up.
