The guy who invented the PET scan is actually at UCOA. We had done some research looking at how sugar is taken up by the brain. It shows you characteristic patterns in Alzheimer's in certain areas of the brain show dysfunction, less cellular function with the sugar tap. In the early 2000s, our group went to Baltimore and talked to policy makers and were able to change the policy for Medicare reimbursement from that type of scan.
