Policing Perspectives in High-Crime Communities

This chapter explores the intricate dynamics of policing as experienced by young Black men in high-crime neighborhoods, balancing a desire for improved law enforcement with experiences of aggressive policing. It emphasizes the necessity of including diverse voices in discussions about policing policies and community safety, particularly in light of the defund the police movement. Through real-life experiences and reflections, it advocates for a collaborative approach to create effective and equitable policing solutions that consider the needs of underfunded communities.
