The Importance of Horse Meat in the Christmas Feast
The yule feast was always connected to the king and that's really clear from pretty much every single source we got is a clear connection to the king. The following year they actually ended up forcing their own king to eat horse liver and said we won't we won't even accept you're going to drive you off the throne if you don't eat it now. That doesn't make much sense to be why would we be so important that the king eats horse at at Christmas but it was essential because this horse sacrifice is what ensured the health of the land, he says.
