The Evolution of Human Vocal Production Biology
The human larynx is clearly a very versatile vocal talt that is very well developed for our complex language. We can also control the pitch of the valves, which accounts for our ability to say the same sentence completely understandably in a low voice or a high voice. The problem is that the hioid bone is not connected to any other bone in the human body, so it creates a problem when assessing its exact position. And we believe that the lower pos tion of the larynx in humans gives us a greater acoustic variety to our speech. Human vocal production biology has altered so immensely that it has confused scientists about what could have happened and why.
