Rationing diet made us appreciate what we had, says Caroline. We are so darned lucky to have such choice in this day and age. Carran developed recipes for a living from your rations which you would still eat today. Cabbage dumplings taste quite delightful - i hope i'm pronouncing them right. And one of the things we absolutely love, is homety pie,. it's essentially a cheese and vegetable pie that has a lot of leeks and potatoes.
