The Importance of Cueing in Weightlifting
Andrew: I think it's almost like just an emotional reaction. You just yell it and you want someone to make a lift. The other really interesting thing you said is how cueing is not necessarily like the end all be all. So there was actually a brand new study that came out looking at internal or external cues during the deadlift. They found that an external cue, what it was only beneficial for on the deadlift was improved stability. And if we're prioritizing the goal of task and moving the bar up, you're going to use a very different muscle strategy than if you're prioritizing not trying to fall over.
