The Chinese Defense Minister's Meeting With Putin in Moscow
The Chinese Defense Minister Li Shang-Fu met with Putin in Moscow a few days ago, and pledged to increase military exchanges. This seems to me to be further evidence that China is far more interested in building its rather cynical partnership with Russia than it is in placating the West. I still haven't entirely lost my conviction that economics will trump strategic influence as far as the Chinese are concerned. But we're going to have to wait and see.
