The Roman Senate of Rome

The Roman Republic had a very complex, very convoluted system of government. Caesar would try and in his way simplify a lot of this by, you know, taking shit over. Since the Senate controlled money, administration and the details of foreign policy, it had the most control over day to day life. When their terms expired, consuls generally appointed to serve as governors of provinces and make a lot of money.
